Trasher’s Day out in the Sun

It was a nice Fall day today in the afternoon once the clouds went away and the sky cleared up.  I decided that Trasher needed some ‘air’ time out of the mews and set her up out in the perch.  She did her usual puff-out, shake-out, and then the occaisional bate off the perch to stretch some wing muscles.  A little later, she apparently decided to get some sun and took a spot in the grass, fully spread out.  I crept up to her slowly, taking pictures as I went, not knowing how long she was going to stay like that.  I was able to get about 10 feet from her before she stirred.  I was completely surprised by this and enjoyed seeing her do something different.  Hawk watching is amazing!

Introducing Trasher

With the departure of Tahoe fresh in our hearts as the spring continues to unfold, we are working with intermewing a hawk for the summer. We are welcoming “Trasher” in our mews as a resident for the summer. She is 2-year old female Red-Tailed hawk who is a great hunter. We hope she enjoys her stay in our mews for the summer.
